One of my favourite pastimes...
Here is something fun to do: collecting smiles.
It’s easy, just walk out your front door and smile at the first person you see. She’ll smile back, and you’ll have the first one for your collection. Then smile at the next guy you encounter and collect his too. Be sure to award extra points when teeth flash.
In a very short time, you’ll have an amazing assortment: shy smiles, goofy grins, smiles with and without nods, and surprised smiles. Be prepared for the occasional I got you first! smile – there are other collectors out there too!
Some favourites from my collection are the I needed that, the Thank you, the I’m with you, and the ever fine Right back at you, Jack, which often comes with a wink.
Oh sure, there’ll be some non-responders. Some frowns. Just keep smiling – It will soften them up for the next collector that comes along.
Everyone is beautiful when they smile. Laugh lines crinkle, softening even the sternest face, and dimples magically appear. As their smile blooms, so too will your heart.
And think about this: a wonderful ripple effect occurs when you smile at someone. They’ll feel just a bit better and likely smile at the next person they see, and so on and so on. Before you know it the whole world will be smiling!
What? You don’t think it works?
I was smiling when I wrote this, and now…
You’re smiling too, aren’t you?
